Hike through the Swiss & French Alps

22. - 28. Juli 2018

For: 7 daysPrice: 890 € per person

This is probably the hardest and most famous ski tour in the winter and is now in our summer program.

Panoramic hiking trails, surrounded by beautiful peaks and glaciers that can be traversed by non-mountaineers without previous experience of crampons, all define this tour.

We meet in Visp and then take a train to Le Tour and use this journey for a discussion about the program. Once in France we take the chair lift and then hike to our first hut, the Refuge Albert 1er (2,707 m).

From here we put our crampons on and traverse the impressive Glacier du Tour and head for our next goal the Col du Tour (3,281 m) at a relaxed pace. We cross the Plateau du Trient and reach the Cabane du Trient (3,170 m). In the afternoon we descend to the Cabane d'Orny, our accommodation for today.

The next stop is Champex, a tiny mountain village, where we take a short taxi journey to Tour am Lac Mauvoisin and then onto a hiking trail to the Cabane de Chanrion (2,462 m). From here a long glacier day awaits us, accross the Otemma Gletscher to the Cabane d'Vignettes (3,160 m). The following day is filled with ascents and descents until we reach the Cabane d'Bertol.

As a special end of tour highlight, we climb another 3000m peak, the Tête Blanche (3,710 m) from where the view of the Matterhorn could not be better. We rest at the Schönbiel Hut, knowing that we have the hardest behind us. From here we either hike or take the lift down to Zermatt where our tour ends.
