GLACIER WALKING IN THE SILVRETTA
Glacier trekking in the Silvretta Region and the Piz Buin
22. - 26.07.2018For: 5 daysPrice: 475 € per person
Day 1: After a brief equipment check we will start our first tour to the glacier towards the Ochsenscharte, 2977m. On the way we can decide if we want to stay on the glacier, stay on the rocks or make a round tour out of it. We can spend the rest of the day visiting a nearby climbing area to have a go at rock climbing. (4 - 5 hours)
Day 2 is our first real hiking day and we will walk up to the Rauhekopfscharte (3000m). This is a lovely hike with fantastic views of the Valley and a great possibility for a nice peak at the end, the Rauhekopf (3101m). (5 – 6 hours).
Day 3 we cross the border to Switzerland. IWe will hike up the old moraine, passing crevasses, to the glacier and the Vermunt Pass (2797m), this is the highest point for today. Afterwards we will decent down towards the Tuoi hut (2250m) which is my favourite hut in the area (4 hours).
Day 4 starts early and we will head back up and onto another big glacier. The Silvretta Pass divides the Tuoi from the Silvretta hut side. The massive glacier which leads down to the Silvretta hut (2343m) has a very nice steepness so the walking is not too hard. We will certainly enjoy our coffee and cake from the panoramic terrace (6 – 7 hours).
Day 5 is the final day and we will enjoy a pleasant hike back down to the Kloster valley bottom to complete the trek. Before we can do this we have another pass to cross, the Rote Furkla is the boarder again between Austria and Switzerland. It is verly easy to get to and then it is all downhill.
